86404-04-8 - Preparation

3-O-ethylascorbic acid ether is an antioxidant that can be prepared by the following steps:
1. Preparation materials: Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) and ethanol are required.
2. Add vitamin C to a reaction flask under dry and anhydrous conditions.
3. Add ethanol to the reaction bottle and stir to mix. Maintain the temperature of the reaction within an appropriate range.
During the reaction, it was observed that vitamin C began to dissolve and react with ethanol.
5. Continue stirring the reaction for a period of time to allow the reaction to proceed fully.
After the reaction is complete, remove the remaining ethanol from the solvent by distillation or concentration.
7. The crystalline products can be purified through recrystallization and washed and dried with appropriate solvents.
In this way, 3-O-ethyl ascorbic acid ether can be obtained. It should be noted that during the preparation process, attention should be paid to operational safety, appropriate reaction conditions should be maintained, and necessary purification and testing should be carried out to ensure high purity products are obtained.
