9α,10α-Epoxyhexahydrocannabinol is an active metabolite of delta 9-tetrahydrocannabinol. 9α,10α-Epoxyhexahydrocannabinol has anti-convulsant activity. 9α,10α-Epoxyhexahydrocannabinol reduces body temperature, prolongs pentobarbital-induced sleep, and exerts anticonvulsant activity against pentylenetetrazol-induced seizures in mice[1].

Animal Model: ddN (male, 23-25 g body weight)[1]
Dosage: 1, 3, 5, 10 mg/kg
Administration: i.v.
Result: Determined ED50 of 0.60 mg/kg for cataleptogenic effect. Significantly lowered body temperature at 1, 3, and 5 mg/kg. Prolonged pentobarbital-induced sleep to 61 min (1 mg/kg) and 113 min (5 mg/kg).
Protected all mice against Pentylenetetrazol (PTZ)-induced lethal tonic extension at 10 mg/kg; significantly prolonged clonic seizure latency to 258 s and tonic seizure latency to 610 s.
Provided 75.0% protection against PTZ-induced tonic convulsion when combined with phenobarbital at 10 mg/kg, a significant increase compared to control.
