Bekanamycin 是半合成抗生素的前体，通常从卡那霉素链霉菌 (S. kanamyceticus) 的发酵液中提取[2]。
Bekanamycin 以浓度依赖性方式可逆地降低终板电位的量子含量，但对细胞外记录的突触前动作电位的配置没有明显影响。Bekanamycin 引起的诱发递质释放的减少可以通过增加外部钙浓度或使用氨基吡啶等药物来拮抗，这些药物可以大大增强运动神经末梢的递质释放。Bekanamycin 可能通过干扰运动神经末梢去极化过程中发生的钙内流来对递质释放发挥强大的抑制作用。[3]。
