Cardiogen is a short biologically active peptide (Ala-Glu-Asp-Arg) that does not bind single-stranded deoxyribooligonucleotides, slightly quenches fluorescence of some double-stranded deoxyribooligonucleotides, strongly quenches fluorescence of methylated and unmethylated λ phage DNA-ethidium bromide complexes[1].

Cardiogen 不与单链均一寡核苷酸或富含 GC 的寡核苷酸结合，仅与一种双链寡核苷酸 (FAM-GCG GCG TGATCA GCG GCG) 发生微弱相互作用，其 Stern-Volmer 常数为 0.34 × 104[1]。
Cardiogen 与未甲基化及甲基化 λ phage DNA-EB 复合物的结合作用均强于其他受试肽，其 Stern-Volmer 常数分别为 3.0 × 104(未甲基化) 和 2.8 × 104(甲基化)[1]。
