Chronic Disease and Inflammation  (慢性疾病与炎症)

Chronic inflammation is a key contributor to the development and progression of numerous chronic diseases, including cardiovascular disease, chronic kidney disease, diabetes, non-alcoholic fatty liver disease, cancer, autoimmune disorders, and neurodegenerative and mental health conditions. It not only results from these diseases but also actively participates in their underlying mechanisms, influencing both pathogenesis and potential therapeutic interventions. For instance, genetic mutations associated with clonal hematopoiesis of indeterminate potential (CHIP) enhance inflammatory gene expression, significantly increasing the risk of coronary artery disease, highlighting the central role of inflammation in chronic disease etiology.
