Methyl cellulose (MC) (Viscosity:1500mPa.s) is a non-ionic cellulose ether with surface activity and thermogelation properties. Methyl cellulose (Viscosity:1500mPa.s) is widely used as drug delivery agents, thickeners, stabilizers, emulsifiers, etc., in industries such as pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, and construction[1].

体内研究
(In Vivo)

Methyl cellulose (0.5%; 腹腔注射/口服; 每周 2 次; 6 周) (Viscosity:1500mPa.s) 在 CF-1小鼠中，腹腔注射会致系统性组织病变，口服时具有良好的安全性[1]。
NOTE:
1. Methyl cellulose 溶液不存在固液分离现象。溶液呈均匀透明状态，无颗粒。
2. Methyl cellulose 完全溶解可能需要 4 小时或更长时间。

Animal Model: CF-1 mice aged 3 weeks old (12-14 g) underwent corneal kindling (electrical stimulation to induce chronic seizures) or sham kindling (handling without stimulation)[1]
Dosage: 5%
Administration: Intraperitoneal (i.p.) or oral (p.o.) administration, twice weekly for 6 weeks
Result: Led to widespread accumulation of foam-laden macrophages in multiple tissues (kidney, liver, mesentery, aorta, choroid plexus) with associated inflammation and occasional tissue damage in both kindled and sham mice by i.p..
Caused no histologic lesions by p.o..
Had no significant effects on body weight, seizure stability, behavioral assessments (open field test), hematology, or serum biochemistry parameters.
