NIR-Cu(I) is a selective NIR fluorescent turn-on Cu+ probe. NIR-Cu(I) binds to Cu+ with a Kd of 6.1 × 10-12 M and forms a 1:1 complex with Cu+ to prevent fluorescence quenching. NIR-Cu(I) is cell membrane permeable and can detect intracellular Cu+[1].
