Phloroglucinol is a potent NIK inhibitor with antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activities. Phloroglucinol inhibits signaling pathways such as nuclear factor-κB (NF-κB), extracellular signal-regulated kinase (ERK), and c-Jun N-terminal kinase (JNK), scavenges reactive oxygen species (ROS), and decreases the expression of inflammatory mediators (such as TNF-α, IL-1β, IL-6, PGE2) and matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs). Phloroglucinol is promising for research of chronic inflammation-related diseases like arthritis and atherosclerosis[1][2].
