Phytohemagglutinin (PHA-M), the major seed lectin of the common bean, Phaseolus vulgaris, is a T-cell activator. Phytohemagglutinin stimulates human mononuclear leukocytes, inducing the expression of ChAT mRNA and potentiating ACh synthesis. Phytohemagglutinin induces dose- and time-dependent toxicity in THP-1 monocytes/macrophages, alters cellular morphology, causes organelle dysfunction, and increases the expression of NF-κB, COX2, IL-1β[1][2][3][4].

Phytohemagglutinin (0.1-1000 µg/mL, 24 h) 可减少 THP-1 细胞的数量，使细胞呈现圆形形态，导致细胞骨架不稳定并产生毒性反应[1]。
Phytohemagglutinin (0.1-1000 µg/mL, 24-72 h) 会降低 MDM 细胞的线粒体活性和溶酶体活性，在较高浓度(1000 µg/mL) 和长时间暴露 (72 h) 时会导致细胞活力显著下降[1]。
Phytohemagglutinin (0.1-1000 µg/mL, 1-72 h) 在 72 h内，浓度高达 1000 µg/mL 时，也不会显著诱导 MDM 细胞产生活性氧 (ROS)，仅在 24 h、浓度为 1000 µg/mL 时，会使自由基略有增加[1]。
Phytohemagglutinin (10-1000 µg/mL, 24 h) 会增加 MDM 细胞中NF-κB、COX2、IL-1β 的表达，降低 TNF-α 的表达[1]。
Phytohemagglutinin 与 T 细胞的膜结合，可刺激代谢活性、细胞分裂[2]。
Phytohemagglutinin (5 µg/mL, 48 h) 刺激外周血单核细胞 (PBMCs) 分泌高水平的炎症因子，包括 IL-6、TNF-α、IL-1β、IFN-γ、IL-4、IL-2、IL-12、IL-10 和 IL-17，同时显著降低 IL-8 水平[4]。
Phytohemagglutinin 显著降低肾癌细胞中 RGC-32 的表达并抑制其生长，此效应可被 PD-L1 结合逆转[4]。
