S-Hydroprene is an insecticide. S-Hydroprene prolongs larval and pupa durations, disrupts larval development, suppresses pupation, and exhibits larvicidal activity against Culex quinquefasciatus and Blatta orientalis[1][2].

S-Hydroprene (0.1-0.6 mL/L (125 mg/mL); aquatic exposure; 24 h) 对致倦库蚊幼虫表现出较低的杀幼虫活性 (0.6 mL/L 时最高死亡率为 9.33%,LC50 = 0.020 mL/L),但会导致幼虫发育出现显著的剂量依赖性延迟、成虫羽化率降低以及形态异常,这支持将其用作媒介生物防控的昆虫生长调节剂[1]

Animal Model: Culex quinquefasciatus larvae[1]
Dosage: 0.1 mL/L, 0.2 mL/L, 0.3 mL/L, 0.4 mL/L, 0.5 mL/L, 0.6 mL/L (125 mg/mL)
Administration: aquatic exposure; 24 h
Result: Exhibited larval mortality rates of 4.67% (0.1 mL/L), 4.67% (0.2 mL/L), 5.33% (0.3 mL/L), 3.33% (0.4 mL/L), 5.33% (0.5 mL/L), and 9.33% (0.6 mL/L) at 24 h.
Showed a significant concentration-dependent effect on mortality, with only the 0.6 mL/L concentration showing a statistically significant difference from the control.
Had a calculated median lethal concentration (LC50) of 0.020 mL/L.
Caused dose-dependent prolongation of larval development, with larval stage durations of 6.80 days (0.1 mL/L), 8.20 days (0.2 mL/L), 8.80 days (0.3 mL/L), 10.00 days (0.4 mL/L), 10.20 days (0.5 mL/L), and 11.20 days (0.6 mL/L) compared to 6.00 days in controls.
Reduced adult emergence rates to 57% (0.1 mL/L, 0.2 mL/L), 31% (0.3 mL/L), 29% (0.4 mL/L), 24% (0.5 mL/L), and 19% (0.6 mL/L) compared to 68% in controls.
Induced morphological abnormalities in larvae (including deformed heads, thoraxes, abdomens, shrunken body parts, and disengaged body parts) and produced larval-pupal intermediates, with no pupal deformities observed.
Animal Model: laboratory strain (originally from Texas A & M University, reared on B. orientalis)[2]
Dosage: 18 mg/m2 (direct contact); 100 mg/m2 (direct contact); 100 mg/m2 (vapour exposure)
Administration: direct contact; continuous exposure; 44 days; vapour exposure; continuous exposure; 44 days
Result: Induced 11.6% offspring deformity (13.8% males, 10.2% females) at 18 mg/m2 direct contact.
Induced 33.3% offspring deformity (39.6% males, 31.7% females) at 100 mg/m2 direct contact.
Induced 0% offspring deformity at 100 mg/m2 vapour exposure.
Shortened parasitoid developmental time significantly compared to controls.
Shifted sex ratio to female bias (1.5:1 at 18 mg/m2 direct contact; 3.9:1 at 100 mg/m2 direct contact; 3.2:1 at 100 mg/m2 vapour exposure).
Showed no significant reduction in adult female parasitoid host attack rate or fecundity.
Showed significantly higher deformity rates in 100 mg/m2 direct contact than 18 mg/m2 direct contact.
Showed significantly higher male deformity than female deformity in both direct contact treatments.
