Six room temperature ionic liquids (RTILs) comprised of a tetraalkylphosphonium cation ( tridecylmethyphosphonium or trihexyltetradecylphosphonium) and a trihalide anion (Br3−, BrCl2−, or ClBr2−) have been prepared and characterized.
