Does potassium chloride cause soil salinization?
Apr 21,2026
Potassium plays a vital role in enhancing plants' drought tolerance. However, it is believed that continuous use of potassium chloride (KCl) leads to chloride accumulation in the soil. Since
plants do not consume chloride, it remains in the soil, raising salinity
levels. Excess chloride can disrupt plant physiological processes and
reduce yields.
