Steps:
3.2.1. General procedure for alkylation of piperidine nitrogen with propargyl bromide and benzyl bromide (general procedure 1)
General procedure: The piperidine (1.0 equiv.) was dissolved in acetone at room temperature. The solution was stirred and Cs2CO3 (1.0 equiv.) was added, followed by propargyl bromide (80 wt% solution in toluene, 1.0 equiv.) or benzyl bromide (1.0 equiv.). When propargyl bromide was used, the reaction mixture was protected from light by wrapping the flask with aluminium foil. After 24 h, the reaction mixture was filtered with suction, and the filtrate evaporated. The crude product was purified by flash column chromatography.
