A peripheral blood mononuclear cell (PBMC) is any blood cell having a round nucleus. For example: a lymphocyte, a monocyte or a macrophage. The lymphocyte population consists of T cells, B cells and NK cells. There are several other cells like the uncommitted CD34+ cells and blood dendritic cells. But these are found in very low percentages.

But in practice, PBMC preparation has lymphocytes (B, T, and NK cells), the monocytes (these 2 should compose most of the preparation) and some granulocytes (basophil, eosinophil and neutrophil) (those are contaminated, and should be small portion of the preparation).
