Eotaxin (C-C motif chemokine 11) directly promotes the accumulation of eosinophils in response to the presence of allergens. This is a prominent feature of allergic inflammatory reactions. Eotaxin binds to CCR3. Recombinant Eotaxin comprises a 74 amino acid fragment (24-87) corresponding to the mature Eotaxin protein and is expressed in E. coli with an amino-terminal hexahistidine tag.
