Abstract

A direct synthesis of 4-aryl tetralones from aromatic alkenes and O2 under visible light irradiation was developed. An organic dye, acridinium, was used as the photocatalyst in this transformation, providing a facile and environmentally friendly platform to generate a wide range of 4-aryl tetralones.
