Abstract

Acetylenic carbanions add to nitroarenes (dinitrobenzenes, nitropyridines, etc.) to form σ^H-adducts that are subsequently oxidized by DDQ according to the oxidative nucleophilic substitution of hydrogen (ONSH) pathway to give nitroaryl acetylenes.
