Abstract

Pt/CdIn2O4 composites with different morphologies and various Pt contents were prepared through a facile one-pot hydrothermal method. The crystallographic surfaces of CdIn2O4 crystals of different shapes, including octahedrons, truncated octahedrons, 14-facet polyhedrons and cubes, were successfully controlled with different Pt contents. Inspired by the unique function of Pt and CdIn2O4, the Pt/CdIn2O4 composites were applied as gas-sensing materials. Tests of gas-sensing performance demonstrated that not only the Pt dopant but also the surface structure of CdIn2O4 crystals affected the gas-sensing properties of the samples obtained. CdIn2O4 with 0.98 at% Pt exhibited a superior response to acetone, indicating a great potential application in gas sensors.
