Treatment of triphenylbismuth difluoride with alkynyldiisopropoxyboranes in the presence of BF₃·OEt₂ in CH₂Cl₂ gives alkynyltriphenylbismuthonium tetrafluoroborates, which react with sodium p-toluenesulfinate in dual reaction modes depending on the solvents employed.
