A new route is presented to synthesize benzothiazoles via cyclization of 2-aminothiophenols by CO₂ in the presence of diethylsilane catalyzed by 1,5-diazabicyclo[4.3.0]non-5-ene, and a series of benzothiazoles were obtained in good yields.
