A new “turn-on” fluorescent probe 1 for the detection of Pd⁰ has been designed and synthesized. The probe possesses potent selectivity to Pd⁰ and can respond quickly to changes in Pd⁰. In addition, the mechanisms of the reactions were studied and the product of the probe with Pd⁰ was separated. Moreover, the probe can be used to sense Pd⁰ in BT-474 cells and zebrafish.
