The interfacing of a Hewlett-Packard 5840A gas chromatograph to a personal computer, which hitherto has been considered difficult, has been successfully achieved. The acquired data are processed by a commercially available chromatographic software program called Maxima 820. The program can manipulate complex high resolution gas chromatograms much more efficiently than the integrator that was originally acquired with the gas chromatograph.
