Abstract

An iron(II)phthalocyanine (Fepc) modified mesoporous titania (Fepc–TiO2) nanocatalyst with a specific surface area of 215 m2 g−1 has been synthesized by a hydrothermal method. Fepc–TiO2 degrades one of the highly toxic chemical warfare agents, sulfur mustard (SM), photocatalytically under sunlight with an exposure time of as low as 70 min. Furthermore, the mesoporous Fepc–TiO2 also captured 2.1 mmol g−1 of CO2 at 273 K and 1 atm.
