A rapid and accurate method for the determination of alchol in pour-point depressants for pertroleum and petroleum products using an infrared spectrophotometric method is described. A sharp, strong band of hydroxy group stretching mode at 3610 cm^–1 was taken as the anylytical band and the results are discussed.
