Abstract

Silver(I) 3,5-dinitrobenzoate (DNB) reacts with 2-methylimidazole (MeIm), producing a linearly coordinated [Ag(MeIm)₂]⁺ cation that is further assembled with 3,5-dinitrobenzoate anion ia N–H···O hydrogen bonding to give the cyclic aggregate {[Ag(MeIm)₂](DNB)}₂1; whereas with 2-aminopyrimidine (APym) it affords the coordination polymer [Ag(Apym)(DNB)]_∞ 2, which is assembled into a two-dimensional network sustained by weak C–H···O hydrogen bonds.
