Abstract

γ- and δ-Lactam diazoacetates undergo efficient intramolecular C–H insertion catalyzed by Rh₂(MPPIM)₄ with excellent regioselectivity and cis-diastereoselectivity to provide synthetically useful bicyclic lactam lactones.
