Abstract

Multifunctional nitrogen-doped nanoporous carbons (N-NPCs) prepared from metal–organic frameworks (MOFs) have been demonstrated. In this work, MOF derived N-NPC possesses a porous structure with a high surface area of 1244 m2 g−1 and well-balanced pore sizes as well as 10% of nitrogen content, which results in good adsorption for CO2 at a medium storage pressure. N-NPC achieved a high CO2 storage capacity of 10 mmol g−1 at 45 bar at 40 °C and still maintained the adsorption of 7.2 mmol g−1 at 100 °C. Due to the short pathway and enhancement of Li ion diffusion, N-NPC exhibited a high initial discharge capacity of 820 mA h g−1 and a reversible charge capacity of 762 mA h g−1 at a rate of 0.1 A g−1. Furthermore, N-NPC reveals a good rate capability, suggesting a potential candidate as an electrode material for Li-ion batteries.
