Abstract

2D MOFs or metal–organic layers (MOLs) as a new type of 2D materials have received special attention due to their unique merit of integrating both organic and inorganic components compared to inorganic 2D materials. However, they also suffer from weak stability. Here, we report a new method for the syntheses of MOLs with enhanced stability using azolate derivatives as terminal ligands to construct MOLs. Four MOLs have been synthesized containing numerous N atoms of azolate ligands, which as H-bond sites remarkably imprsove the stability of the final structures. In addition, such uncoordinated N atoms act as active sites promoting catalytic activity for CO2 chemical fixation after exfoliation.
