Dynamic ¹H NMR spectroscopy has been used to explore the influence of substituents on the internal rotation of the amino group in a series of twelve 2-(N,N-dialkylamino)chromones; the rotational barriers (ΔG^‡) in CDCl₃ and CD₂Cl₂ were found to range from 38 to 52 kJ mol^-1.
