A semiconducting Langmuir–Blodgett film of a non-amphiphilic bis-tetrathiafulvalene derivative
Journal of Materials Chemistry Pub Date : , DOI:10.1039/JM9950501609
Abstract

Bis- and tris-tetrathiafulvalene (TTF) derivatives have been prepared by coupling together TTF monoacids and diacids with diaminopropane spacers. These new materials were successfully deposited to give Langmuir–Blodgett (LB) films, but the films generally showed low conductivity, except for one non-amphiphilic sample that had been doped with iodine (σrt= 6 × 10–3 S cm–1). This demonstrates that non-amphiphilic TTF derivatives can be used to prepare conducting LB films without the addition of stabilising materials such as fatty acids.
