A method for incorporating potential crosslinking agents into poly(vinyl phosphonic acid)(PVPA) is described. Polymers with increased relative molar mass have been synthesized and used to fabricate experimental PVPAbased dental cements of improved compressive strength. The presence of these crosslinking agents was found to make no significant difference to the working and setting times or overall handling characteristics of these cements.
