The irradiation of some tetramethyl 9aH-quinolizine-1,2,3,4-tetracarboxylates gave low yields of pyrrolo[1,2-a]aze-pines; similar 4aH-benzo[c]quinolizines gave corresponding 1H-isomers and other compounds The n.m.r. and mass spectra and mode of formation of the products are discussed.
