Decomposition of N-nitrosoacetanilide and N-(2-iodophenyl)-N-nitrosobenzamide in benzene in the presence of 1,4-dimethoxyanthracene gives B- and A-ring adducts in ratios which are consistent with those reported for other benzyne precursors.
