Abstract
2-Bromo- and 2-tosyloxy-cyclobutanones under-go ring-contraction on treatment with lithium aluminium hydride or with Grignard reagents, while 2-bromo- and 2-hydroxy-cyclobutanone acetals show quite different thermal behaviour.
