An infrared study of carbon monoxide bonding to heme A in cytochrome c oxidase
Journal of the Chemical Society D: Chemical Communications Pub Date : , DOI:10.1039/C29700000950
Abstract

Carbon monoxide when bound to reduced cytochrome c oxidase of bovine heart has been found to exhibit one C–O stretch band with a frequency and band-width consistent with a terminal CO ligand bound to heme A iron within a non-polar environment well-isolated from external solvent.
