All the geometric and optical isomers possible for the [Co(dien)2]3+ system have been isolated and characterised, and the geometric configurations have been assigned from the difference in racemisation behaviour of the optical forms of the u-cis- and trans-isomers and from the 1H n.m.r. spectra.
