Several recently published treatments of n-alkane mixtures are discussed and compared. Treatments based on van der Waals and lattice theories have essential similarities which lead to equivalent relations for the correlation of the thermodynamic properties of n-alkane mixtures. The discussion is applicable to mixtures of members of any homologous series.
