Abstract

A transition metal free base catalyzed approach for C–N bond formation via C–C and C[double bond, length as m-dash]C bond activation has been developed. The N-arylureas reacted smoothly with 1,3-dicarbonyls and α,β-unsaturated ketones to furnish the corresponding amides and imines respectively in moderate to excellent yields.
