Benzothiazepines are one such class of heterocyclic scaffolds with celebrated biological activities. The flooding of the pharmaceutical market with cardiovascular drugs like diltiazem, clentiazem and siratiazem bearing the benzothiazepine core confirms the biological importance of the core.
