药食同源（Medicine Food Homology，MFH）是指一些食物本身也是药物，药物和食物之间没有明显的界限。药食同源的理念科学地将食物的作用与药物结合在一起，一些物质既可以作为食物也可以作为药物。除了物质本身的营养价值之外，药食同源的产品还具有预防和治疗疾病的作用，以及其他保健作用。由于药物不可避免地有一定的副作用，而食物本身的安全性具有保障，所以食物作为药物具有很多优势。为确保功能性食品的安全使用，卫计委对药食同源类产品作出了具体规定，目前已经公布了 100 多种药食同源类的中药材。
