Aluminum oxide is a nanoparticulate carrier and adjuvant.Aluminum oxide elicits antibody production against non-immunogenic haptens when coupled to them in mice and rabbits. Aluminum oxide functions in eliciting antibodies from non-immunogenic haptens[1].

Aluminum oxide (0.20 mg; intramuscular; initial dose with/without complete Freund’s adjuvant; boosts with/without incomplete Freund’s adjuvant at 21-day intervals) 可在家兔体内诱导针对阿特拉津相关化合物的选择性抗体应答，而联合使用弗氏佐剂会改变其交叉反应特征[1]。

Animal Model: BALB/c (H-2d) (female)[1]
Dosage: 1 mg (Al₂O₃-hapten conjugate); 100 µg (Al₂O₃-aprotinin-hapten conjugate)
Administration: i.p.; every 2 weeks; 5 doses
Result: Achieved a mean serum absorbance (λ 490 nm) of 2.26 for Al₂O₃-2d (hapten conjugate); achieved a mean absorbance of 2.68 for Al₂O₃-aprotinin-2d; yielded IC50 values of 1182 ng/mL (300 nm Al₂O₃-2d) and 1372 ng/mL (40 nm Al₂O₃-2d) via competitive ELISA.
Animal Model: New Zealand white (female)[1]
Dosage: 0.20 mg
Administration: intramuscular; initial dose with/without complete Freund’s adjuvant; boosts with/without incomplete Freund’s adjuvant at 21-day intervals
Result: Elicited cross-reactivity values of 80% for propazine, 29% for simazine, 17% for deethylatrazine, <0.01% for prometryn, and 5% for deisopropylatrazine (relative to atrazine = 100%) for Al₂O₃-2d (hapten conjugate).
