Olamufloxacin (HSR-903) is an orally active fluoroquinolone antibacterial agent. Olamufloxacin shows broad-spectrum bactericidal activity against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Olamufloxacin inhibits growth of extracellular Legionella spp. bacteria and intracellular growth of Legionella pneumophila. Olamufloxacin inhibits cytotoxicity caused by intracellularly multiplying Legionella pneumophila. Olamufloxacin increases survival rate and reduces lung bacterial burden in L. pneumophila-infected guinea pigs.Olamufloxacin can be used for the research of legionnaires’ disease[1].

Olamufloxacin (1.25-5 mg/kg；口服；每日 2 次；2-7 天) 在嗜肺军团菌感染的豚鼠中可提高生存率并降低肺部细菌负荷[1]。

Animal Model: Hartley strain (male, ~250 g weight, intratracheal inoculation of L. pneumophila SG1 80-045 for Legionnaires' disease modeling)[1]
Dosage: 1.25 mg/kg; 5 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.; twice daily;2-7 days
Result: Reduced lung bacterial burden significantly at 1.25 mg/kg twice daily for 2 days compared to vehicle control.
Reduced lung bacterial burden significantly at 5 mg/kg twice daily for 2 days compared to vehicle control.
Achieved 91.7% (11/12) survival rate at 5 mg/kg twice daily for 7 days.
