Parsalmide is an orally active non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug and gastroprotective agent, with an IC50 of 9.92 μM against COX-1 and 155 μM against COX-2. Parsalmide prevents gastric injury and reduces edema. Parsalmide can be used in the research of arthritis[1].

Dosage: 10 mg/kg; 100 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.; single dose
Result: Inhibited paw edema formation by 9% at 10 mg/kg.
Inhibited paw edema formation by 83% at 100 mg/kg.
Exhibited an ED50 of 82 mg/kg for anti-inflammatory activity.
Animal Model: Wistar rats treated Indomethacin (male, 120-140 g)[1]
Dosage: 100 mg/kg
Administration: p.o.; single dose; administered 1 hour before indomethacin
Result: Significantly reduced indomethacin-induced gastric damage, with a gastric damage score markedly lower than the vehicle-treated control group.
