Serrumab is a human monoclonal antibody that counteracts the biochemical and immunological effects of Tityus serrulatus venom. Serrumab inhibits the TsV-induced increase in the production of IL-6, TNFα and IL-10. Serrumab also prevents TsV-induced elevations in plasma urea, creatinine, aspartate transaminase and glucose levels, as well as the TsV-induced increase in neutrophil recruitment. Serrumab can be used in research related to envenoming by the Brazilian yellow scorpion[1].

Animal Model: BALB/c (male, 15-25 g)[1]
Dosage: 10 µg per animal; 20 µg per animal
Administration: injection
Result: Prevented venom-induced increases in plasma urea, creatinine, and aspartate transaminase (AST) levels, with values not significantly different from control mice.
Prevented venom-induced increases in neutrophil recruitment, with neutrophil percentages matching control levels.
Prevented venom-induced hyperglycemia (observed 1-4 hours post-venom injection) and subsequent hypoglycemia (observed 5 hours post-venom injection), maintaining glucose levels within the normal control range over the 24-hour monitoring period.
