还原大红 GG 可用于棉布染色和印花，亲和力一般，匀染性好，但不适于染蚕丝和羊毛。其色光比还原大红 R 黄，但没有还原大红 GGN 鲜艳，因而使用较少。

方法 1：在冰醋酸或吡啶溶液中加热邻苯二胺和 1，4，5，8-萘四羧酸混合物 (当使用冰醋酸为溶剂时，产物中反式异构体比例较大)。方法 2：加热 1，4，5，8-萘四甲酸与邻硝基苯胺，还原硝基并环化。方法 3：加热 N，N'-二芳基-1，4，5，8-萘四甲酰二亚胺与邻苯二胺。操作示例详见还原艳橙 GR (C.I.Vat Orange 7)。
