伊维菌素广泛用于牛、羊、马、猪的胃肠道线虫、肺线虫和寄生节肢动物，犬的肠道线虫，耳螨、疥螨、心丝虫和微丝蚴，以及家禽胃肠线虫和体外寄生虫。
本品为阿维菌素的衍生物，属口服半合成的广谱抗寄生虫药。
本品对各种生命周期的大部分线虫（但非所有线虫）均有作用 ；
对盘尾丝虫的微丝蚴有效，但对成虫无效 ；对仅处于肠道的粪圆线虫也有效。
