Abstract

Graphite nanosheets are mixed with coir cellulose fibers and PVA solution to form a hydrogel, which is freeze-dried and then hydrophobically modified by silanization to form a lightweight porous hydrophobic aerogel H-CF/GNS/PVA. In this system, the plant fiber enhances the mechanical stability of the aerogel, and the dry aerogel can withstand more than 2800 times its own weight without deformation. The graphite nanosheets enhance its thermal stability. In addition, the hydrophobic aerogel can adsorb various oils and organic solvents from water and be recycled. This work provides a feasible scheme for recycling waste biomass energy as well as a reference for the preparation of green and environmentally friendly aerogels.
