背景

功能：该 RNA 结合蛋白能够结合铁反应元件 (IRES)，IRES 是存在于铁蛋白和δ-氨基乙酰丙酸合酶 mRNA 的 5'非翻译区 (5'-UTR) 以及转铁蛋白受体 mRNA 的 3'非翻译区 (3'-UTR) 中的茎环结构。该蛋白与铁蛋白中的 IRE 元件结合会导致其 mRNA 翻译受到抑制。该蛋白与转铁蛋白受体 mRNA 的结合则会抑制这种原本会快速降解的 mRNA 的降解。

异构体 & 翻译后修饰：P48200 存在 2 个异构体，P48200-1；105059 Da (预测)；P48200-2；37501 Da (预测)。
在高浓度铁和氧存在下，泛素化并被蛋白酶体降解。
