Pharyngitis  (咽炎)

Pharyngitis is an inflammation of the throat characterized by symptoms such as sore throat, fever, runny nose, cough, headache, and difficulty swallowing. It can result from bacterial, viral, fungal infections, or exposure to irritants like smoke. Common clinical features include enlarged tonsils with white exudate, fever, and swollen cervical lymph nodes. Adenoviral pharyngitis specifically presents with fever, pharyngeal erythema, tonsillar enlargement with exudate, and cervical lymphadenopathy. Most cases are viral in origin, with symptomatology varying based on the causative organism. Complications may include sinusitis and acute otitis media.
